Yes, you should absolutely use a sheet over your protector. Safety Shield Mattress Protectors are designed to fit directly over the top of your mattress and underneath the sheets. Yes, you shoudl first wash your mattress protector with standard household detergent (without bleach) and dry on a low to medium heat setting.

Your mattress protector shoudl be washed on a low to medium heat with standard household detergent (with no bleach additives) and then dried on a low to medium heat setting along with other linens.

No, do not dry clean your Safety Shield™ mattress protector. The Safety Shield Membrane will be destroyed by the chemicals used in dry cleaning.

7. Why are there brown scuff marks on the SafetyShield™ Membrane?
The brown scuff marks are scorch marks caused by drying your Safety Shield mattress protector on too high of a heat or from being caught on a hot section of the dryer. This is not covered under the warranty.

The Cotton Terry side of your mattress protector should face up. This allows the protector to absorb and evaporate fluids and perspiration throughout the night. It also creates a comfortable, noiseless surface that sits right under your sheets.
